What does your past pain have to do with your purpose? Almost every woman I coach wants to know what their unique call is on their life. The pain of their past is where we always begin.
As Christian women, your journey is uniquely shaped by your story of suffering. And yet, as we mature in our faith, we often forget what we’ve faced and thus forfeit the opportunity to see how God wants to use the pain of our past in the future. We forget that our pain is a doorway into how to connect, impact, and serve God’s people.
Let’s explore key questions to ask as to how God might want to use the pain of your past to serve as a compelling call for your future as a Christian woman.
What is my story of suffering?
We often want to make a big impact for God yet prefer to do it in a way that presents us in a positive light. However, the message of the gospel isn’t for the neat and tidy, it’s for the messed up and broken. The unique trials and tribulations you’ve faced that have left wounds within are not by accident. You’ve likely walked through that pain with Jesus. It is crucial to acknowledge the reality of the pain and bring it to Jesus, and if you haven’t already, it’s time to begin. He invites us to pour out our hearts before Him, finding comfort, healing, and restoration in His presence. What is your story of suffering? Take time now to reflect.
How have I encountered the healing power of Christ?
In Christ, we find a source of unparalleled healing and redemption. As you consider how Christ has transformed the very places of pain from your past, what you find is your testimony. It is only Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross that offers forgiveness, renewal, and restoration. You can share the story of how you surrendered your pain and how God has healed your brokenness, and has turned your scars into symbols of His grace and redemption. How have you encountered the healing power of Christ in your life?
How has my pain paved the way for my purpose?
God can use the pain of your past to shape your purpose in Christ. Through the process of healing and surrender, your past pain equips you to minister to others, offering empathy, encouragement, and support to those who are also hurting. Your story of suffering becomes a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness and serve as beacons of hope for those who are searching for healing and restoration. Outside of the exact circumstances of your past, consider how your experience left you hurting. Did you feel alone, betrayed, forgotten, or used? Take time to reflect, knowing that this pain gives you purpose to reach others who feel the same.
How might God be asking me to reach others who share my past pain?
You are called to walk in the freedom and love that Christ has secured for you. Embracing His love, you can confidently step into the future, knowing that He will guide and equip you for the journey ahead. Your past pain is not a hindrance but a testimony of God’s redeeming power, allowing you to shine His light in a world in need of hope. Take time now to ask God how He wants you to minister to others who have a similar story of suffering. How is God asking you to reach others and invite them on a journey of transformation with God?
You are uniquely positioned to minister to others, offering the love, grace, and compassion that you have experienced firsthand. Embrace the calling that God has placed upon your life, knowing that He can transform your past pain into a powerful testimony of His faithfulness. May you walk boldly and confidently, shining His light in the world and encouraging others to find their hope and healing in Jesus Christ.
